In 1976, Gingerbread Corner opened the first Out of School scheme in Britain and added a Day Nursery in 1984. We now provide care for nearly 200 children aged 0-11 years in our two-storey child care centre, which we designed ourselves a few years ago.
We are a friendly and experienced organisation, with a staffing establishment of around four dozen, and we welcome applications from caring and enthusiastic individuals to work with our children in a fun and safe learning environment.
Our indoor facilities include a craft room, IT room, romp room and sensory room. The Out of School children have many different and dedicated areas in which to play and the Early Years' children are cared for in age groups across five different rooms - each with their own outside play area. We also have decking, gardens and an adventure playground.
We have two child care posts open, both of which are permanent and full-time (37.5 hours per week):
Nursery Nurse/Playworker - this is split post, working with two-five year olds in the mornings during term-time and with five-eleven year olds the rest of the time. Ideally, applicants would have a relevant qualification and experience both with early years and primary age children but we would be willing to train the right person.
The annual salary ranges from £16186 - £18490 depending on qualifications. Other benefits include subsidised lunches and snacks, workplace pension at 2% from October, 40% discount on our child care fees and a commitment to developing and training our staff.
We particularly welcome applications from men as they are under-represented in our workforce.
