WELCOME TO GINGERBREAD CORNER

We are a children's charity with an early years nursery and out of school care, including school collection. We have been running for 50 years. Our goal is to provide a nurturing and stimulating environment where children can learn, grow, and thrive.

Our Journey

When we opened our doors in 1976, Gingerbread Corner was the first after-school care scheme in Europe.

We started to look after under fives in 1984, and can provide care for up to nearly 200 children a day in a spacious, accessible and purpose built child-care centre.

 

Providing a safe and fun learning environment for children aged between three months and 11 years, with experience caring for children with disabilities and individual requirements.

 

We have a soft play room, sensory room & garden, four dedicated nursery rooms, an Adventure Playground and many other special rooms. Our children enjoy a variety of home-made meals for lunch and snack which take into account the children's dietary needs.

 

Because Gingerbread Corner is a charity, we offer discounts based on your household salary income so, the less you earn the less you pay. To help you that little bit more, we also offer a discount for siblings and all military personnel, NHS staff and emergency workers.

 

Many of our "ex-children" have returned as parents - and quite a few as staff members - and I can't think of a better testimonial to our services and our continuity of care.

What We Offer

Full Time Nursery Places

  • For 66 children aged 3 months to 5 years old, across four nursery rooms, with free flow access to gardens and play areas.

  • Open from 7.45 - 6.30 p.m. every weekday, except bank holidays

 

Free Pre-school

  • Up to 22.5 hours per week, starting at 9.30am, term-time only.

 

After School Care

  • Registered for 100 children aged 5 to 11 years. Facilities include a Craft Room, Hall, Play Terrace, Games Room, Lounge, IT suite and a Den for under eights

 

Holiday Care Scheme

  • Care for 5 to 11 year olds during school holidays.

 

Facilities Available for Hire

  • Our facilities are perfect for children's birthday parties
